Teacher Leader Academy (TLA)
TEAM-Math received two grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in order to establish the TEAM-Math Teacher Leader Academy. The first Teacher Leader Academy was for secondary mathematics teachers. Fourteen teacher leaders within high-needs school districts who demonstrated success in improving student learning were selected as “fellows” in the TEAM-Math Teacher Leader Academy. These teachers receive an annual stipend of $10,000, as well as reimbursement for tuition to complete an advanced degree in mathematics education.
The second Teacher Leader Academy was for Elementary Mathematics Specialists. Twenty one teacher leaders within high-needs school districts who have demonstrated success in improving student learning were selected as “fellows.” These teachers receive an annual stipend of $10,000, as well as tuition reimbursement to complete an advanced degree in elementary education and an Elementary Mathematics Specialist Certificate. Teachers must already have completed a master’s degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education.
